It was an excellent day for a car show, with about 230 vehicles filling virtually every available space outside Aldergrove Community Secondary School (ACSS) on Sunday, April 27 for the 11th annual Country Car Show.
"It was a good turn out," said volunteer Mike McVay.
"All the vacant spots were taken."
Bad weather and construction at the school site had hampered recent shows.
"Last year was a rain-out. And we lost about, I'd say, a good 20 spots, maybe more [when construction was underway]."
This year, there was no rain and no construction equipment taking up parking space.
"When I got there at about 5:30 [a.m.], six o'clock, the sun was coming up, and it looked like a nice day," McVay said.
"At seven, it clouded over, and the wind picked up, a real cold wind. [[But by] eight, the clouds were gone, the sunshine was starting to come through, and it just got better as the day went on."
Hosted by the Central Fraser Valley Chapter of the Vintage Car Club of Canada (VCCC), partial proceeds from the event will support the school's automotive program.
Next up, a major car show in neighbouring Cloverdale:
The will be on June 8, at Elements Casino, with registration and vehicle entry from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
