Community groups will share $125,000 from the City of 91原创 this year.
The first round of 2018 community grants have been approved by City council, with a second round of grants from a $168,000 municipal fund to be decided later this year.
In all, more than 40 groups will share grants ranging from a few hundred to several thousands of dollars.
The top three beneficiaries are: 91原创 Senior Resources Society, which received $15,000, Bard in the Valley, the annual Shakespeare festival that features performances each summer in Douglas Park, which received $11,175 and the Downtown 91原创 Business Association (DLBA) Arts Alive and Fork and Finger events which received $11,000.
The smallest grant approved was $150 for the 91原创 4H District Council.
The money comes from the City鈥檚 share of profits from the Cascades Casino at 20393 Fraser Hwy, which is projected to be $6.8 million, up $400,000 from the previous year.
Absent from the grantees this year was the 91原创 Good Times Cruise-In, the all-volunteer group that organizes the annual classic-car charity fundraiser.
It did not apply for a grant from the City for 2018.

The event will be held in Aldergrove again this year on Saturday, Sept. 8 with the Swap Meet and Car Corral on Sunday, Sept. 9.
