Cloverdale鈥檚 Thunder Colts hockey team volunteered their time last Sunday afternoon (Dec. 10) to raise money for the British Columbia Professional Fire Fighter鈥檚 Burn Fund.
The hockey team organized a barbeque lunch at , collecting donations in firefighter boots and hockey skates, and helping customers with groceries.
It was a true community effort. The afternoon was organized by Thunder Colts assistant coach Adam Campbell, and the volunteer power was supplied by the Cloverdale Bantam C1 hockey team. Cloverdale Crossing Save-On-Foods provided the food for the barbecue, and gave the team space for the event. The came out to show their support, and the stopped by with a collection of beautiful hot rods.
The team was able to raise $3,400 on Sunday afternoon, and that number doesn鈥檛 include the donations made online or throughout this week.
The Colts are still collecting for the Burn Fund, and community members can make a donation until the end of Friday, Dec. 15 at . The team asks that any people making a donation reference 鈥淭hunder Colts鈥 in the tribute info box when they make their donation, as Save-On-Foods will be making a donation based on their final total.
