Groups are welcome to submit information about upcoming community events in 91Ô­´´. Publication is at the discretion of the newspaper, and host groups are responsible for keeping their information up to date.

Grant Narrows Provincial Park/Addington Marsh Wildlife Management Area: 91Ô­´´ Field Naturalists trip is on Wednesday, June 4. Meet leader Vikeka Ohman at 10 a.m. at the kiosk near the boat ramp for a tour of this marshed dike area on a major migration route. Dress for the weather and bring a lunch. Fun Fair for Boys & Girls Club of 91Ô­´´ and Douglas Park Community School: Even is on Friday, June 6 from 5 to 8 pm at 5409 206 St.  Hosted by Lila McCrindle’s Fundraising. Receive five free tickets with a cash donation. There will be bouncy castles, carnival games, a prize table, barbecued hotdogs with chips and drinks, a cake walk, a silent auction, a popcorn stand, an arts and crafts table, and a concession stand.

Rainbow Rodeo: An evening of Queer country music is Friday, June 6, in the Fort 91Ô­´´ Community Hall, 9167 Glover Rd. Fort 91Ô­´´ Improvement Society presentation features acts performing in multiple country genres as a celebration of Pride Month. Tickets: $20 in advance (tickit.ca) or $25 at the door. Two-step lesson is at 7:30 p.m. followed by the dance at 8 p.m. Western dress encouraged.

Glen Valley Spring Bird Count: Lisa Dreves leads a 91Ô­´´ Field Naturalists gathering at Poplar Bar (91Ô­´´/Abbotsford border). Meet at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 7. The Glen Valley Watersheds Society bird count runs until noon after which participants gather for a potluck lunch. Sign up in advance by emailing stewardship@leps.bc.ca.

Gone Country Jamestown: Twins Cancer Fundraising event is Saturday, June 7, at the film set, 7088 248 St. Evening features musicians, artists, actors, restaurants, wineries, breweries, and distilleries. Starts at 5 p.m. Tickets: $189 (including GST). Must be 19 or older.

Garage sale and shredding: Peterson Road Elementary, 23422 47 Ave., has a sale and shredding on site by donation on Saturday, June 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be raffles and a concession on site. British Invasion Car Show: Stop by Douglas Park between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, to see distinctive vehicles and enjoy the music. Presented by the Old English Car Club of B.C.

Valley Gran Fondo: Long distance bike race is Sunday, June 8. Staging area is Eagle Acres Dairy, 87 Avenue and 248 Street. Riders can go 120 kilometres, 85, 50, or 20. Come Try Hockey: 91Ô­´´ Girls Ice Hockey Association free hockey try-it event is Sunday, June 8, for girls ages five to 17 (as of Dec. 17, 2024). Campbell Valley Regional Park: 91Ô­´´ Field Naturalists five-kilometre walk has some ups and downs along the trail. Wear hiking footwear. Bring a packed lunch to enjoy at the end of the walk. Chief Dan George – Actor and Activist: Exhibit from the Museum and Archives of North Vancouver will be in the Big House at the Fort 91Ô­´´ National History Site until Sept. 14. The exhibit delves into the life of the Tsleil-Waututh leader, actor, and activist whose used his notoriety to call for justice, reconciliation, and Indigenous pride. Opus One Women's Choir: Group rehearses at 91Ô­´´ Secondary on Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. September through May. New singers welcome in the non-audition community choir with a focus on fun and friendship while learning some musical skills and growing together as a group. We perform concerts in spring and at at Christmas and other occasions around the community. Senior Opus Singers is a women's choir dedicated to entertaining seniors.
