Upwards of 400 cars are expected to participate in the inaugural Brookswood Secondary School car show this Sunday.

Brookswood Secondary parents hope one final car show of the season for local collectors will draw a huge crowd and raise some needed money for the school this weekend.

The school鈥檚 first-ever show happens Sunday, Sept. 24, with registration starting at 7 a.m. and gates opening to the public from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., said one of the event organizers Angie Colley Venne.

鈥淐ome check out the sweet rides and vote for your fav,鈥 she said.

鈥淗ave a burger or hotdog at the concession, snag yourself a Brookswood Car Show T-shirt and get in on the 50/50 and raffle draws.鈥

All proceeds benefit the 鈥渟chool as a whole,鈥 Colley Venne explained, including the music, jazz band, and automotive programs as well as the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC).

鈥淥ther proceeds will be decided once we have counted the pennies and have an idea of what is needed, Much like D.W. Poppy [Secondary] does [from their popular car show],鈥 Colley Venne said.

There鈥檚 also a pancake breakfast being hosted by the school鈥檚 leadership group, with all proceeds to the school鈥檚 breakfast club that feeds 鈥渘early 100 students鈥 everyday.

The event runs, rain or shine in the main field at Brookswood Secondary (20902 37A Ave.)

Cost for public admission is $3.

The cost to register a car is $10, and can be done in advance through .

鈥淎s the season ender, this will be a great opportunity to show your vehicle and see them before they are put away until the spring,鈥 Colley Venne said to car collectors.

鈥淲e鈥檙e hoping for a great turn out, and for something we can build on year after year,鈥 she added, hoping to see 400 or so cars.

鈥淲e are finding that most people are waiting to see how the weather will be so we are quite low on pre-reg. The word is out there.鈥
