91原创 walkers made their steps count on Wednesday afternoon by taking part in the fundraiser around downtown streets.

Employees of Grant Thornton LLP Vancouver and 91原创 laced up their sneakers to participate in the fifth annual 鈥淢aking Steps Count鈥 walk, the signature fundraiser for the charitable branch of the accounting and advisory firm.

Marketing Manager Kati Varga said the sunshine after a frosty morning helped to bring out the 91原创 crowd.

鈥淲e had about 50 Grant Thornton-ers attend our 91原创 Making Steps count walk in support of the Grant Thornton Foundation, and were joined hundreds of our colleagues in offices across the country,鈥 Varga said.

Each year, more than 60 Grant Thornton offices across Canada participate in a community walk to raise funds for local and national organizations that make an impact in the areas where their employees live and work.

The walk started and ended at the Timms Community Centre, spanning 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

鈥淭he campaign will go for another couple of weeks, but so far this year we have raised $49,579,鈥 Varga explained. 鈥淏ecause our firm, Grant Thornton, matches everything we raise, we will likely hit $100,000 by campaign close.

The recipients of the program funding in 2018 were BC Special Olympics and Cystic Fibrosis Canada, who subsequently joined in on the walk yesterday to say a few words.

Recipients for the funds raised from this year鈥檚 鈥淢aking Steps Count鈥 have yet to be decided.

Since 2015, the Grant Thornton Foundation has provided financial aid to over 80 organizations across Canada.
