We asked 91原创鈥檚 residents how they celebrated Mother鈥檚 Day each year 鈥� and they responded.
The 91原创 Advance Facebook page received dozens of ideas.
The winner this year was Amy Patricia.
鈥淲e always do pedicures with the four generations: my daughter, myself, my mom and my gramma who鈥檚 87 on Mother鈥檚 Day!鈥� Patricia wrote.
There were many worthwhile entries, from memories of Mothers Days past to ideas for events:
鈥淲e all went down to the river and roasted hotdogs,鈥� wrote Jennifer Tolonics. 鈥淲ell, the kids roasted everything, even cantaloupe, which didn鈥檛 exactly turn out all that tasty, but it was priceless.鈥�
鈥淟ast year we did a wonderful guided cruise on Harrison Lake,鈥� wrote Lisa Johannes Bisschop. 鈥淭he weather wasn鈥檛 the most favourable, but I had all my kids there, so it didn鈥檛 matter.鈥�
鈥淎 glass of wine and some good convo,鈥� wrote Candace Urquhart. 鈥淩elaxing and enjoying the company of my children and learning new things. Value the time you have enjoying the little things together.鈥�
鈥淕ift certificate to get her hair done,鈥� suggested Natalie Rae. 鈥淭his year taking her to a few plays/theatre performances. We like experiences over things.鈥�
鈥淲hen my son was in Elementary school he decided to plan Mother鈥檚 Day,鈥� wrote Ledell Monteith Kendall. 鈥淗e said all I had to do was drive where he wanted to go. He gave directions from our house in Aldergrove all the way to Fort 91原创. We went to the historical Fort in Fort 91原创. And then we went for sushi. I thought the day was over until he told me were having dessert at home. When we got home we roasted marshmallows over candles.鈥�
鈥淲e spend the day cooking all our mother鈥檚 favorite dishes and enjoy quality time together,鈥� wrote Sandy K-Canada. 鈥淲e have a tradition where every Mother鈥檚 Day we plant a new tree or flowers together in our garden and give thanks to Mother Earth and the Sun God.鈥�
鈥淚 lost my mom in 1990, just before Mothers Day,鈥� said Caroline Rose. 鈥淢others Day is spent remembering her, cooking some of her dishes and when I visit Winnipeg, visiting her grave.鈥�
鈥淢y mom loves nature, so instead of just giving her flowers, I took her on a day trip to Van Dusen Gardens and let her enjoy ALL the flowers she wanted!鈥� said Moreen Brooks.
鈥淢y favourite Mother鈥檚 Day was a couple of years ago,鈥� wrote Heather McDougall Koga. 鈥淢y husband, kids, and I went on a guided kayak tour in Harrison. Gorgeous scenery then we ended the morning with a delicious picnic on the beach.鈥�
