Christmas has come early at Douglas Park Community Elementary School.
As thick snowflakes fluttered to the ground on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 19, all 246 students from kindergarten to Grade 5 walked out to the front of the school where a pink firetruck was parked.
Once outside, they received gifts from Victoria-based a non-profit organization with a mission to 鈥渂reak the cycle of poverty, homelessness and addiction at an early age.鈥�
Students from Grades 1 to 5 received gifts and stockings; the kindergartners were handed teddy bears and stockings.
The kindergartners were the first to receive their presents from Extreme executive director Cliff Power and others, and many of them did so with wide smiles and shrill shrieks of joy.
