Theresa Couture wasn't going to let a little leg injury keep her from attending her third plant sale at the Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) School of Horticulture in 91Ô´´.
"Multiple fractures on my ankle and foot and torn tendons and ligaments," a cheerful Couture told the 91Ô´´ Advance Times, sitting in a wheelchair with her left leg in a protective boot.
"I wouldn't miss it," Couture said, as she waited o enter the greenhouses at 20902 91Ô´´ Bypass on Saturday, April 26.
She was looking for "predominantly perennials, but I do have a big veggie garden, so some veggie starts [baby plants] because I grow food for the food bank."
Couture was among hundreds who showed up for the annual sale, which offered everything from hanging baskets, to fresh herbs for your kitchen, veggie starts, bedding plants, basket stuffers, fruit bushes and petite trees and hardy shrubs.

People started lining up well before the doors opened, parking their cars in the 91Ô´´ campus parking lot and walking across the pedestrian bridge to the greenhouse where the sale was underway.
Rob Welsh, instructional associate for landscape programs, was giving directions.
"Today is our big fundraising plant sale and we're almost to capacity on our secondary parking stalls, which is great this year," said Welsh.
"I think this is probably going to be one of our biggest days in the past five or six years."
Sisters Jash and Karlie, who were making their first visit, weren't looking for anything in particular.
"Just browsing around, seeing what catches our eyes," said Jash.
"Honestly we weren't expecting it to be this busy," said Karlie. "It's a wonderful turnout, definitely nice to see for the university."
KPU announced the sale was being extended, posting a notice oinline that said it would be running until Friday, May 9.
"We’ve extended the sale, so you can still grab plants to make your garden bloom (and maybe impress your mom for Mother’s Day too)," it said.
The School of Horticulture will be open this week until Friday from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., and the next week from Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. - 3p.m..
