In celebration of Canada Music Week, on Nov. 22, 91原创 Community Music School's (LCMS) Concerts Caf茅 Classico series is featuring Rachel Mercer (cello) and Jeanie Chung (piano).

The selected works will include Abigail Richardson-Schulte鈥檚 Crossings, Mark Nerenberg鈥檚 I Thirst, and Andrew Downing鈥檚 Viyolonsel Semai (for solo cello).

The duo will also perform 19th century composer, Mendelssohn鈥檚 Sonata No 2 in D major.

LCMS artistic director Elizabeth Bergmann will explore anecdotal stories and more at the 2:30 p.m. pre-concert talk show with the Mercer-Chung duo, followed by a short break with coffee and refreshments.

The performance will start at 3:30 p.m.

鈥淚t is a great treat to feature such high caliber interpreters of Canadian music,鈥 said Bergmann.

鈥淚t will be a wonderful and engaging performance. And there鈥檚 even a LCMS connection to one of the composers. Some of the audience may remember the performance of jazz bassist Andrew Downing with singer Trish O鈥機allaghan and pianist-conductor Les Dala some years ago.鈥

Canada Music Week is celebrated annually in the third week of November to showcase Canadian composers and performers.

As part of this annual celebration, LCMS is also hosting an all-Canadian Saturday afternoon concert at 2 p.m. on Nov. 21.

This event will feature students of all ages and levels, the children鈥檚 choir, fiddlers and faculty performances.

Tickets for the Concerts Caf茅 Classico event are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and $10 for students.

There is no charge for the Saturday afternoon concert.

Call the box office at 604-534-2848.

The Rose Gellert Hall is located at 4899 207 St.
