It’s an instrument that looks straight out of Star Trek.
On Oct. 6 from 7 to 9 p.m., musician , aka neo V I O, will be performing his edgy electric violin at the Fort Gallery.
Using state-of-the-art sound processing, his violin can produce many different sounds, including electric guitar distortion, up-right bass, traditional eastern Serengi and mellow synth pads. And with on-the-fly recording, he can transform his songs from one violin into a duet, a power trio or even a symphony of harmonies.
The performance is part of the Fort Gallery’s First Thursday events — a tradition taking place on the first Thursday of each month, where the gallery invites a variety of visual artists, writers, poets and musicians from the local community to share their gifts and creations.
Also featured at the October event are gallery artists and , who will talk about their work in the gallery’s current exhibit, Precarious Spaces.
Regular gallery hours are Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
