History on the catwalk: Shows celebrate fashions of the 1920s and '30s

During the 1920s sparkly gowns were thought to be 'too vulgar' for daylight and therefore could only to be worn after dark and; Model Virginia Newton-Moss struts through the Fort 91原创 Community Hall in a mint condition outfit circa 1925-1930.

From fancy hats to practical footwear and, of course, plenty of glamorous gowns, Vancouver fashion historian Ivan Sayers presented selections from his high-end vintage clothing collection at the Fort 91原创 Community Hall on Sunday, June 1.

Two fashion shows were held in conjunction with an exhibit at 91原创 Centennial Museum. Art Deco Chic: Women's Clothing of the 1920s & 1930s, presented by Sayers and fellow fashion historian, Claus Jahnke, continues until Aug. 4.
