Get ready to move to the groove at the Watershed Arts Cafe in 91原创.
The Siobhan Walsh group is bringing their R&B, neo-soul and jazz fusion band to the Walnut Grove caf茅 on Friday, Oct. 19.
The band is made up of a trio of musicians, including Walsh, a Vancouver singer who moved to the city from Vancouver Island four years ago.
Jonny Tobin plays keyboard and Joel Fountain performs on drums.
Walsh grew up immersed in music, as her father was an opera director. After graduation, Walsh attended Vancouver Island University鈥檚 jazz program.
Walsh calls singing her 鈥渙utlet.鈥
鈥淚t鈥檚 where I feel the most at home, when I sing. I have been singing my whole life and it鈥檚 really my outlet to express what is happening in my life and the world.鈥
Walsh explained the biggest challenge of the band is 鈥渕anaging both the business side of the music business and still having time for the creative process.鈥
The Siobhan Walsh Group combines different genres of music because Walsh said she doesn鈥檛 view them as separate genres when she鈥檚 singing.
鈥淚 just play the music I love and it happens to be all of those styles of music.鈥
Friday鈥檚 concert at the Watershed Arts Cafe, 20349 88 Ave., begins at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.
for $15 or at the door for $20.
