91原创鈥檚 Albert Saguil 鈥渂lew away鈥� judges of the Youth Talent Search BC 2015 by dancing to a remix of Barbie Girl/Super Smashed Sunday, securing him top spot in the competition.
Saguil, or better known by his stage name of ALONE, beat out 24 other finalists all ranging between nine and 18 years old, who were vying for the crown in Port Moody on the weekend.
鈥淵outh Talent Search BC was a breathtaking experience, with the loads of talent that I performed alongside with on Sunday night. I still can鈥檛 believe that I won, considering the fact that all the acts were immensely spectacular,鈥� the 17-year-old said.
The finalists earned their spots, first through preliminary rounds that took place exclusively through YouTube and then through semifinals held in October.
鈥淥verall, I am very grateful for the people who supported me outside and inside the theater, and because of their support I was able to accomplish my goal at every single performance I make...鈥� Saguil said. 鈥淚 got to express the thing I love the most, dance.鈥�
As first place overall winner, he won a headshot session, consultation with a top film/TV agent, a prize pack from the hit YTV show Some Assembly Required, a radio interview, a featured guest performance and interview on Shaw TV, and a Youth Talent Search BC 2015 trophy.
Youth Talent Search BC is a talent competition designed to give youth exposure and experience in a theatre environment.
This year鈥檚 judges included YTV stars Ellie Harvie (Some Assembly Required) and Milo Shandel (Mr.Young), musical theatre star and Canadian Idol finalist Danny Balkwill,and nationally acclaimed choreographer and dancer Katie Murphy.
