Rihanna will be checking into the Bates Motel next season, but she probably won鈥檛 be checking out.
The pop superstar surprised Comic-Con attendees with the video announcement that she will play Marion Crane, the iconic role played by Janet Leigh in the original Psycho, in the fifth and final season of A&E鈥檚 hit drama series that is filmed in Aldergrove and other Metro Vancouver locations.
A replica of the original Bates Motel set from Alfred Hitchcock鈥檚 1960 film Psycho was built in Aldergrove on 272nd Street.
鈥淚鈥檓 about to check into the Bates Motel very soon,鈥� she said in the video.
Bates Motel executive producers Kerry Ehrin and Carlton Cuse were on hand at the pop-culture convention with cast members Vera Farmiga, Freddie Highmore, Max Thieriot, and Nestor Carbonell on Friday to discuss the show鈥檚 upcoming fifth and final season.
Cuse said he and Ehrin heard Rihanna was a fan of the psychological series and called her casting the 鈥減erfect collision of creativity and fate.鈥� In the film, the character famously meets her bloody demise in the shower of Room 1.
