Spring symphony concert features 91原创 pianist

91原创 pianist Jane Hayes will be performing this Sunday at the Fraser Valley Symphony concert in Abbotsford.

Since her debut with the Toronto Symphony, Jane Hayes鈥 concerts have taken her across Canada, the United States, Europe, and Mexico.

Well, the 91原创 pianist will be playing much closer to home this coming weekend.

Hayes, who is also the head of the Kwantlen Polytechnic University鈥檚 music department, will be sharing her love of the keys in a spring concert by the 33-year-old Fraser Valley Symphony Orchestra (FVSO) on Sunday.

Hayes was the principal keyboard player for Orchestra London, a regular soloist with orchestras throughout Ontario, and a featured artist on many CBC radio broadcasts.

An active recording artist, she has 17 CDs available on the Fanfare, EMI, Centrediscs, ATMA, Artifact, CBC-Musica Viva and CBC SM5000 labels.

She moved to B.C. back in 1993 to become a faculty member, and subsequent the department head of KPU鈥檚 music department in 91原创.

More recently, she was the recipient of the 2015 Kwantlen Faculty of Arts distinguished teaching award given for outstanding achievement in her field 鈥 as noted by students.

Hayes said she鈥檚 鈥渄elighted鈥 to return for the FVSO concert, entitled Schubert and Schumann.

Of a performance she offered at the Victoria International Festival, a reviewer said she gave 鈥渁 stunning account of the Schumann concerto, combining seamlessly fluid passagework with beautiful tone colouring鈥 Superb.鈥

The FVSO concert is being held at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium, 32315 South Fraser Way, in Abbotsford on Sunday, April 9, starting at 3 p.m. Doors open at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and students, and $5 for children 12 years and younger. They鈥檙e available in advance of the concert at Kings Music, Tourism Abbotsford, and the Pantry Natural Foods in Mission or online at www.fraservalleysymphony.org.

A limited number of tickets will also be available at the door.
