The Vancouver Giants are among those mourning the death of John Ashbridge, long the voice of hockey in Metro Vancouver.
Ashbridge, a longtime news radio reporter in the Lower Mainland, died on June 5 at the age of 71.
He had been the public address system announcer for the Vancouver Canucks from 1987, and worked with the Giants over many years as well.
He was part of the Giants 2007 Memorial Cup Victory, and announced at Canada鈥檚 2010 Winter Olympic gold medal hcokey win, and at two Stanley Cup fianls.
To so many, he was the 鈥渧oice鈥� of hockey in Vancouver. A remarkable man who was loved and respected by everyone he interacted with. We are beyond grateful to have had John represent the Giants and the great game of hockey. Our sincere condolences to his family. Thank you John.
