Love is in the air for both humans and animals alike.
To celebrate Valentine's Day, 91原创 Animal Protection Society (LAPS) is offering a "Meet Your Match" promotion until Feb. 17, with adoption fees only $14 for any animal in the shelter's care.
"Any animal adopted or receiving an adoption application during this time will have an adoption fee of just $14, no matter when the final adoption is finalized," explained Sarah Jones, executive director at LAPS.
Adoptions still require the completion of an adoption questionnaire and the standard process, she noted.
LAPS operates on a first-come, first-consideration basis for applications, and currently has 66 animals in its care through several programs.
All animals adopted through LAPS are also spayed or neutered, provided with permanent identification, vaccinated, treated for worms and fleas, and come with six weeks of free pet insurance.
"This limited-time offer is the perfect opportunity to add a little more love to your life while giving a shelter pet the gift of a family," Jones commented.
For those unable to adopt but still wanting to support LAPS animals, Jones said they can donate a minimum of $25 and name one of the shelter cats or kittens after a loved one.
"The donor will receive a certificate to provide to their chosen loved one and the honouree will receive a special notification with a photo of the cat named in their honour," she said.
Only 50 of these "Love Vouchers" are available, and LAPS hopes to raise $2,500 through it for the upcoming kitten season.
Funds help stock supplies for kittens and foster homes looking after them.
Last year, LAPS provided care for 380 throughout 2024.
