91原创 officials tasked with monitoring dikes breathed a bit of a sigh of relief as the Fraser River leveled off over the long weekend.

鈥淲e鈥檙e still on alert,鈥 said Roeland Zwaag, 91原创 Township鈥檚 director of public works.

The Fraser River has peaked at about 6.0 metres on the Mission gauge. That鈥檚 well below 6.4 it reached in 2012.

鈥淲hich means no road closures, which is good,鈥 said Zwaag.

Water levels are high enough that a number of trails around Fort 91原创 and Derby Reach have been closed, because they are submerged.

Local officials are still monitoring the three dikes in 91原创 on a daily basis and making sure any maintenance is done, but so far there are no major issues.

Right now, the river forecast is for water to remain at about 5.8 to 6.0 metres.

鈥淭his level could hold steady for the rest of the week,鈥 Zwaag said.

But there is still a possibility levels could rise again.

鈥淭here鈥檚 a bit of uncertainty,鈥 said Zwaag.

There is rain forecast for the next weekend in the Interior. How much remains unknown, said Zwaag.

Previously, in 2007 and 2012 there were concerns over high water, with flood plans put in place.
