The former KFC restaurant at 27030 Fraser Highway in Aldergrove has been demolished. The Township-owned site marks the first step toward transforming it into a new community-focused space.

Located beside the Aldergrove Community Centre on the edge of downtown, the property has been classified as underutilized by the Township. Soon, it will be vacant, as only one current tenant鈥檚 lease is set to expire in 2025.

鈥淲ith their lease expiring in 2025, there is opportunity to re-imagine the anticipated vacant space,鈥 said 91原创 Township on its website.

Over the past months, the Township has gathered public input through an online survey, an in-person workshop on May 18, and a community open house on June 1.

According to the Township, residents expressed pride in supporting local businesses and farmers. They also emphasized the need for more nearby services, affordable childcare, additional community gathering spaces, and expanded parks and recreation opportunities.

The Township said it is also considering climate preparedness, including flooding, extreme heat, and wildfires, alongside planning for a growing, aging, and diversifying population.
