Two 91原创 Township fire trucks were banged up Thursday morning when they slid off an ice-slicked road while responding to an emergency call.

At about 6:45 a.m., two fire trucks were sent to the intersection of Morrison Crescent and 76th Avenue, a steeply sloping area, said assistant fire chief Russ Jenkins.

They were there to aid the occupant of a car that had already slid off the road and crashed. One woman was sent to hospital by ground ambulance.

The first fire truck parked, but the second couldn鈥檛 stop. It slid on some snow and black ice and plowed into the first truck, sending both of them into the ditch.

One firefighter was sent to hospital to be checked out after complaining of some stiffness, but was not seriously hurt, said Jenkins.

鈥淭he trucks have some significant damage,鈥 Jenkins said.

They were being hauled back to a fire hall to be checked out later Thursday.

The temporary loss of two trucks won鈥檛 impact firefighting in 91原创, but it will be an inconvenience, said Jenkins. There are 21 other fire trucks of various types in the 91原创 Township department鈥檚 halls.
