The Abbotsford Fight League is ready to rumble and the new promotion's inaugural event is set for the Ag-Rec Centre on Saturday, May 31.

There are a total of 11 boxing bouts planned for the debut, with a mixture of professional and amateur fights.

The main event features Abbotsford's Gagan Gill taking on Christian "The Ghost" Tremayne.

The 30-year-old Gill has competed at the amateur and professional level of mixed martial arts for over a decade, compiling a pro record of 5-3. He captured the Battlefield Fight League's featherweight title in 2018 and was also a headline fighter in several of the Abbotsford-based Mamba Fight Night events.

As an amateur at MFN 3 back in 2016, he stopped Irish fighter Dario Sinagoga in the second round via rear naked choke. His first pro fight then occurred at MFN 4 in 2017, when he tapped out American Ian King in round one via guillotine choke. Most recently at MFN 8 in 2020, he defeated American Grant Gorsegner in round one via punches.

In the years since Gill has mostly competed at BFL, with his last fight ending in a loss to Caleb Moctezuma on Feb. 8, 2024. The match against Tremayne marks Gill's pro boxing debut.

Tremayne, 31, fights out of 91原创 and put together a record of 5-5 as a pro MMA fighter. His last fight was a loss to Jayden Martin at a BFL event on May 9, 2024.

"Not taking him lightly and training to suit," he said. "May 31st I'm coming with intention."

Another promoted bout is former UFC fighter Kajan 鈥淩agin鈥 Johnson taking on Ari Ashari.

The 41-year-old Johnson appeared on the reality show The Ultimate Fighter Nations: Canada vs. Australia in 2014 and went on to have seven fights in the UFC from 2014 to 2018. He finished with a 4-3 record and his last fight there was a loss to Rustam Khabilov in Moscow on Sept. 15, 2018. He announced his retirement from MMA after being released from the promotion in 2020.

The Burns Lake product said he's looking forward to the show.

"It's going to be a good night," he said on his Instagram page. "Don't miss it, it's going to be a war. It鈥檚 been seven years since I left the UFC and I鈥檝e been working on some new things that I can鈥檛 wait to share with you all. Seeing is believing. It鈥檚 time to change the game."

Ashari has a pro record of 0-2 and last competed on Oct. 30, 2022. He trains out of Vancouver's Raincity Boxing and previously competed as an amateur starting in 2016.

Abbotsford resident Grayson Wells challenges Taylor "The Ragin'" Bull in another top boxing bout.

Wells is a former champion for the Alberta-based HAVOC Fighting Championship and has a pro MMA record of 5-6. He also competes as a bare-knuckle boxer for the HAVOC promotion and is their current heavyweight champion in that discipline. Bull is the current HAVOC bare-knuckle light heavyweight champion. The pair will be putting the gloves back on for the Abbotsford event.

"This guy is super tough," Wells said about Bull. "He's got that warrior spirit inside of him and I've got nothing but respect for him. One of the reasons I agreed to fight Taylor is I know he will show up and show up in shape, be ready to throw down and give all that he's got. I respect a guy who can do that because I'll be doing the same. He's a savage warrior and I'm the same and we're going to put on a show for all the fans in Abbotsford."

Bull, an Alberta product, has a 2-0 record as a pro bare-knuckle boxer and 3-9 as a pro in the traditional boxing world.

"Don't miss a pair of bare-knuckle champions throwing hands in Abbotsford," he said. "Gloves on or off, I'll be behind my shield or on it."

Other matches on the card include:

  • Abbotsford's Caleb Masih vs. Lucas Hartman Griffin (140 pounds)
  • Surrey's Sunny Gill vs. Henry Quang (147 lbs.)
  • Abbotsford's Arjun Sanghera vs. Kyle Shipman (180 lbs.)
