Jack-knifed semi in Surrey clogs Highway 1 westbound

'Major delays'

Motorists heading to Surrey westbound on Highway 1 were hit with major delays Friday morning (May 23), following an incident just west of 176 Street involving a semi truck-and-trailer.

 shared the incident on X just after 8 a.m., noting all westbound through lanes were blocked.  

"Traffic is able to pass through the truck pull-off area to get around. Expect major delays due to congestion," a 9:16 a.m. update to DriveBC.ca stated.

As of 10:30 a.m., the site noted the two righthand westbound lanes were blocked, and area highway cams as of 10:40 a.m. continued to show significant congestion.

DriveBC gave the all-clear shortly before 11:30 a.m.
