Abbotsford ex-MMA fighter pleads guilty in crash into 91原创 RCMP office

Gill to be back in court on May 29

A former Abbotsford MMA fighter and promoter, Kultar Singh Gill, has pleaded guilty to a criminal charge linked to an incident in which he drove into the front of an Aldergrove RCMP building with a woman hanging partly out of his car.

The guilty plea is related to a charge of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm. He has not yet been sentenced.

Gill was also facing charges of aggravated assault and two counts of failure to stop. Those charges are expected to be stayed at sentencing.

A former competitor in mixed martial arts bouts who runs an Abbotsford MMA studio, Gill was also known for promoting MMA events in communities including 91原创, Surrey, Kamloops, Richmond and Burnaby over the decade prior to the incident.

The charges relate to a crash that took place in the parking lot of the Aldergrove community police office just before 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 29, 2023, when video surveillance captured footage of a car turning off Fraser Highway, with the driver's-side door open and a pair of legs trailing outside.

The car bumped over a curb, flattened a road sign, and then slammed into the front of the building.

The vehicle had also allegedly been involved in a crash with another car just before that.

Shortly after the incident, 91原创 RCMP officers arrived to find bystanders trying to help a woman who had been inside the car. The driver had left the crash scene on foot, but he was located and arrested a short time later.

Gill, who is not in custody, is scheduled to be back in Surrey provincial court on May 29 for sentencing.
