The Barnston Island ferry route was closed for a short time Wednesday morning due to a "police incident."

The Barnston Island ferry route was closed for a short time Wednesday morning due to a "boating/marine incident" on the island.

BCEHS spokesperson Bowen Osoko said they received a call at 8:52 a.m. about a "boating incident off the 100 block of Dyke Road" on the island. Three ambulances, a paramedic response unit and a paramedic supervisor responded to the call, but no patients were assessed or transported to the hospital, Osoko said.

91原创 RCMP media relations officer, Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, noted that police did not request that the ferry service temporarily shut down.

An advisory posted on DriveBC noted that emergency vehicles were on scene around 9:30 a.m. and the ferry route was closed.  The route was up and running again around 11 a.m., but to "expect delays due to congestion."
