Jericho Reservoir in Willoughby is finished, but 91原创 Township will be paying off the final costs for its construction this year.
On Monday, Township council authorized another $4.4 million in transfers to Metro Vancouver, which built and operates the reservoir as part of the regional drinking water system.
The money will come from the Township鈥檚 water capital works reserve.
Director of engineering Roeland Zwaag said that the Township was contracted to pay for 66.28 per cent of the costs for the new reservoir, which sits at 73A Avenue near 204th Street.
There is still one more invoice expected from Metro Vancouver, which is it finalizes its costs, Zwaag said.
鈥淎re we going to be looking at another $4.4 million expenditure out of the fund?鈥 said Councillor Kim Richter.
鈥淧reliminary numbers suggest it could be in the range of $1.7 million,鈥 said Zwaag.
The Township has already paid $19.7 million towards construction of the reservoir in previous years.
With the final bill payment, the total Township bill for the reservoir would be over $25 million.
In late 2022, council cancelled plans to build a park, dubbed the Smith View Park, at and around the reservoir.
