91Ô´´ Township and City both have major roadwork projects underway this July, with some of them causing delays for drivers.
In The Township, a number of projects are underway, including the widening of 208 Street in Willoughby, which began more than a year ago.
More recent projects include:
• Old Yale Road, which is being repaved and upgraded, and which is expected to be closed from 215 to 216 Street between Wednesday, July 2 and Aug. 29, Mondays to Fridays, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A detour route will be in place.
• Road widening and intersection upgrades at 88 Avenue and 252 Street, east of Fort 91Ô´´, has been extended to Aug. 8. This will result in single-lane alternating traffic from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Construction on Fort 91Ô´´'s St. Andrew's Avenue, between Glover Road and Nash Street, will result in single-lane alternating traffic from Monday, July 7 to Sunday, July 13. The sidewalk will be closed from July 7 to Aug. 22, but the Fort 91Ô´´ Cemetery will remain open.
• Utility work on 56 Avenue, between 239 and 240 Streets, will take place between June 30 and July 11, with single-lane alternating traffic Mondays to Fridays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• 72 Avenue, between 202A Street and 205 Street, will see road widening work between June 27 and Aug. 29, which means single-lane alternating traffic starting on July 10, running Mondays to Fridays, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with work extended to 5 p.m. on July 17. Work on Saturdays and Sundays will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Utility work is taking place on 80 Avenue, between 204 Street and 212 Street, from June 23 all the way to Jan. 31, 2026. There may be single-lane traffic from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Work at the intersection of 80 Avenue and 204 Street is scheduled to last until July 27.
• In Aldergrove, utility work started June 9 and continues to July 31, at 272 Street between 32 Avenue and Fraser Highway, and single-lane alternating traffic could be in place 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Mondays to Fridays.
In 91Ô´´ City, there are two major projects underway this summer.
• The pipe replacement and reconstruction of the Fraser Highway one-way section, from 204 to 206 Street, began in the winter and is expected to be largely complete this summer. Phase 2 began in May and is expected to wrap up in August, but until then there is no through traffic and more limited parking on Fraser Highway.
• Also starting this summer is the culvert upgrade for Baldi Creek, at 200 Street and Michaud Crescent. This project could result in lane and sidewalk closures, and is expected to take until the end of 2026.
