Salvation Army closes Aldergrove thrift store

Proceeds went to the Gateway of Hope, the homeless shelter and residential centre

The thrift store that has provided funds for the Gateway of Hope closed March 31.

"Following a review of all options, the Salvation Army has made the difficult decision to close the Aldergrove Thrift Store," said Dan Donkers, Gateway of Hope operations manager. "The decision was reached to close the thrift store after it was determined that it was no longer financially sustainable following a decrease in sales, an increase in rental costs, and impending development of the property."

The store opened at 31111 272 St. a dozen years ago and 100 per cent of proceeds went to Gateway on the 91原创 Bypass.

"Although the Aldergrove location will no longer accept any items, the Gateway of Hope will still accept donations of new or gently used clothing, shoes and towels, and new toiletry items," Donkers explained.

He added that Gateway is grateful to the people of 91原创 for their support and patronage of the Aldergrove thrift store and for their ongoing support of the Gateway of Hope.
