An affordable housing project and a new hospice in 91原创 both won honours at the Frontline Real Estate Services Fraser Valley Commercial Building Awards held Thursday, Oct. 26 at the Sheraton Guildford Hotel.
The Aspire building of 91原创 was named judges鈥 choice best overall entry and best in the affordable housing category, while the Doug and Fran MacDonald 91原创 Hospice Residence won the community institution category, along with Judge鈥檚 Choice and purpose built rentals.
Hospice Executive Director Shannon Todd Booth called the award 鈥渁 nice surprise for our team, for sure.鈥
After many years of fundraising, the hospice was opened at the end of May, 2022, a new 6,000 square foot space at the foot of the hill below the hospital, featuring 15 beds, all private rooms, and doors leading directly outside to a green and spacious courtyard.
Aspire, a 148-unit rental complex built in partnership with the 91原创 Memorial Hospital Foundation at 5068 221A Street in 91原创, provides long-term mar颅ket rental housing for people 55 and older, including 42 below-market units, classed as affordable.
The units are about 570 square feet and go for $1,450.
There鈥檚 also units that can be modified for varying levels of mobility and accessibility. A 912 square foot adaptable unit rents for $2,150.
The complex includes underground parking, a games room, and an amenities room with a kitchenette, pool table and shuffleboard table.
