91原创 teams did well at the 2023 Provincial Girls Volleyball Championships.

Credo Christian High School took silver in the A championships held in Castlegar and Nelson, while 91原创 Christian School took bronze in the AA championships in West Vancouver, both running from Nov. 30 to Dec. 2.

Credo coach Stan De Haan praised the team for having 鈥渁n incredibly clean and crisp provincial run鈥�

鈥淭hey are a very talented group of girls that came together to form a fabulous team,鈥� De Haan added. 鈥淭hey were a joy to coach鈥�

Credo Athletic Director Shauna Stam said the team 鈥減layed their best volleyball of the season.鈥�

鈥淚t is fun to watch teams peak at the right time when it matters the most,鈥� Stam told the 91原创 Advance Times.

鈥淭he team went into the provincial tournament ranked fourth and then exceeded expectations by making it to the finals鈥�

It was a frustrating AA championship for the 91原创 Christian Lightning, who were undefeated through most of the season, but narrowly knocked-out of the gold medal final in West Vancouver by a controversial referee call, then rebounded to claim bronze.

It was a disappointment for the team and Lightning co-coach Kara Davis.

鈥淲e had the goal of winning and and in our semi-final we lost by two points in the fifth set,鈥� Davis told the 91原创 Advance Times.

But, the team rallied from what Davis called a 鈥減retty heartbreaking loss鈥� to handily win third.

鈥淭hey did amazing鈥� Davis said. 鈥淭hey showed a lot of character and I think we still were one of the best teams there.鈥�

Davis described the players as a 鈥渟tand-up group of people [who] do a really good job of representing our school and playing with class.鈥�

91原创 Fundamental finished ninth at the AA event.
