91原创 91原创 are putting bullying on ice this week.
Ahead of the annual Pink Shirt Day on Feb. 28, the 91原创鈥檚 junior A hockey team is doing something special to support anti-bullying.
The public is being invited to put their mark on the ice at George Preston Recreation Centre Wednesday night.
While the arena has painted specific messages in the ice in the past, this will be the first time the public is invited to participate.
They鈥檙e going to be provided the tools and invited to paint anti-bullying message of support, compassion, kindness, or empathy on the ice, said rec centre supervisor Keith Holloway.
The public painting event takes place this Wednesday, Feb. 21, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Then, another coat of clear ice will be applied, in advance of the 91原创鈥檚 final home games on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 24 and 25.
The 91原创 play at The Lodge, in the George Preston Recreation Centre at 20699 42nd Ave.
There is a cost to participate in the painting party. It鈥檚 $10 per person, and it includes a ticket to one of the two weekend games. Saturday, they play against Merritt at 7 p.m., and Sunday against Prince George at 2 p.m.
Ahead of that, they鈥檙e playing thieir final away game of the season on Friday, Feb 23 in Coquitlam.
