At 84 years old, Donna is no stranger to hard work, heartwarming memories and a life filled with purpose. Born in New Westminster in 1940, Donna spent her early days surrounded by the hum of sawmills 鈥 her father worked for Canadian White Pine 鈥 and the comforting presence of her mother and two younger brothers. As the only daughter and eldest child, Donna naturally stepped into a nursing role early on, a quality that would shape the rest of her life.
When Donna and her husband Bill moved into in September 2021, they were among the very first residents to call it home. After decades living in Surrey 鈥 where Donna worked as a nurse for 34 years, she was ready for a lifestyle that offered comfort, safety and ease.
鈥淚 saw the ad in the newspaper and the first thing that stood out was the meal service,鈥 Donna says with a smile. 鈥淎fter years of cooking, I was more than happy to let someone else take over.鈥

Donna especially loves the balance of privacy and community. Her suite offers quiet and fresh air on the patio, while social activities like trivia, bingo and happy hour keep her connected and engaged. 鈥淚 thought retirement living might feel restrictive, but it鈥檚 just the opposite. There鈥檚 freedom, fun and support 鈥 and the staff feel like family.鈥
For Donna, moving to Bolivar Creek wasn鈥檛 just about downsizing 鈥 it was about upgrading her lifestyle. 鈥淚 have peace of mind and I get to enjoy life on my terms.鈥
