An early morning crash in Burnaby left one person dead and another two people in critical condition Sunday (Feb. 18).

RCMP say a vehicle with four passengers was reportedly stopped on the side of Highway 1, near the Sprott Street off ramp, when it was struck by an SUV around 3:30 a.m.

The driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries and was released from the scene. RCMP say they don鈥檛 believe impairment was a factor.

They鈥檙e asking anyone who witnessed the crash or who has footage of the area from 3:30 a.m. to 3:45 a.m. to contact the Burnaby RCMP detachment.

鈥淲e send our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of everyone involved. This is a tragedy that will affect so many,鈥 Corp. Mike Kalanj said in a statement.
