Grey Cup Sunday, Nov. 19, started early at the Royal Canadian Legion in Aldergrove, with breakfast at 9 a.m.and the opportunity to watch U.S. football on a big screen TV through the day until the CFL championship got underway.

With the NFL games beginning at 10 a.m., and the CFL championship at 3 p.m., people could make a day of it, Legion treasurer Laura Kline noted.

鈥淚t was good,鈥 Kline said, though turnout could have been better.

鈥漌e had pools, we had door prizes, [but] we鈥檙e still working on getting our crowds up.鈥

Beer prices at the legion are believed to be the lowest along that stretch of Fraser Highway, Kline confirmed.

The kitchen was open all day, and there was an opportunity to win swag.

Up next on the big screen at the legion will be Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 11.

The branch also hosts NASCAR events.

Bombers, who were in the Grey Cup for a fourth straight year, suffered their second consecutive loss after Montreal鈥檚 Cody Fajardo made a 19-yard touchdown pass to rally Montreal to a 28-24 victory.

It earned the Alouettes their first CFL title since 2010, and came after an uncertain off-season that saw the franchise taken over by the league in February, before it was sold the following month to businessman Pierre Karl Peladeau.
