Just in time for spring, a garden party.
The Saturday (April 20) event in the 21200 block of Fraser Highway, near the 91原创 Airport, is to celebrate the opening of the 91原创 Demonstration Garden at the Derek Doubleday Arboretum.
The Earth Day planting party will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine.
Snacks and gardening tools will be provided. The 91原创 Demonstration Garden moved to the Arboretum after 20 years in Murrayville last fall.
Run by the 91原创 Environmental Partners Society (LEPS), the facility offers education and hands-on programs that promote safe home and garden practices such as composting, the use of native plants, and chemical-free gardening.
鈥淎 lot of people who were regulars at our Murrayville Garden are excited about coming out and putting plants in the ground鈥 said LEPS Executive Director Nichole Marples.
鈥淭he planting party is a great way to kick off our new location.鈥
The landscape installation work and plant purchases for the new garden were funded in part by CN Rail鈥檚 CN EcoConnexions Program and its partners Tree Canada and Communities in Bloom.
