Last night Kite received a call from her daughter Melissa Trellert and husband Kris, who were down the strip from the Mandalay bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas where a mass shooting attack claimed at least 58 lives.

The Mission couple had rented a condo off of the Las Vegas Strip.
鈥淭hey got into their condo and locked the door [and] she called me right away.鈥

The couple had travelled to Las Vegas with a number of other couples from Mission.
鈥淭hey鈥檒l never go back again,鈥 says Kite. 鈥淲ith that many buildings and that many people, they weren鈥檛 able to focus on where the shots are coming [from.]鈥

An earlier version of this story indicated that Trellert and her husband were much closer to the shooting. A clarification from Trellert confirms the couple were safe at a location further down the Las Vegas Strip when the shooting occured.
Gunman Stephen Paddock killed at least 58 people and injured hundreds of others last night in what is now being called one of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history. So far there is no evidence linking Paddock to any international terrorist organizations.
