A prominent corner of Aldergrove may finally get a much needed facelift from the 鈥渆yesore鈥 it is now.
On Monday, April 8, 91原创 Township council gave first and second reading to a bylaw allowing four commercial buildings to be built on the southeast corner of 264 Street and Fraser Highway.
The lot once held a popular Burger King and Husky gas station, but the buildings were vacated several years ago.
鈥淚鈥檓 so happy to see something happening on this corner. It was unsightly and I was actually thinking of talking to the bylaw department about our unsightly policy,鈥 said Councillor Kim Richter.
Councillors Charlie Fox and Bob Long called the corner lot an 鈥渆yesore.鈥
鈥淚t鈥檚 good they are going to clean up that corner. It鈥檚 been left in a derelict state for a while now,鈥 said Fox.
But Long wasn鈥檛 too happy about commercial buildings filling the lot.
He expressed concern that putting commercial stores there will hurt an already hurting downtown Aldergrove.
鈥淭here is already a glut of commercial space in Aldergrove,鈥漵aid Long.
