A prominent corner of Aldergrove may finally get a much needed facelift from the 鈥渆yesore鈥� it is now.

On Monday, April 8, 91原创 Township council gave first and second reading to a bylaw allowing four commercial buildings to be built on the southeast corner of 264 Street and Fraser Highway.

The lot once held a popular Burger King and Husky gas station, but the buildings were vacated several years ago.

鈥淚鈥檓 so happy to see something happening on this corner. It was unsightly and I was actually thinking of talking to the bylaw department about our unsightly policy,鈥� said Councillor Kim Richter.

Councillors Charlie Fox and Bob Long called the corner lot an 鈥渆yesore.鈥�

鈥淚t鈥檚 good they are going to clean up that corner. It鈥檚 been left in a derelict state for a while now,鈥� said Fox.

But Long wasn鈥檛 too happy about commercial buildings filling the lot.

He expressed concern that putting commercial stores there will hurt an already hurting downtown Aldergrove.
