Registration is open for the inaugural Amanda Todd Legacy Golf Tournament.
The tournament, taking place at Meadow Gardens Golf Club in Pitt Meadows, is raising money for the legacy foundation formed by Carol Todd in her daughter's honour.
"We are urgently looking for more dedicated golfers and those that just want to come to the dinner only," said Todd, who noted that even though the cost of the tournament is bit more costlier per golfer than others in the area, it is for a good cause.
Money raised will be going to the new Foundry in the Tri-Cities area, which is expected to open in early fall. Foundry is a province-wide network of integrated health and wellness services for young people ages 12-24 years.
Amanda Todd took her own life in 2012, after being cyberbullied by Dutch citizen Aydin Coban.
The Amanda Todd Legacy Foundation is a small non-profit society that focuses the well-being of individuals of all ages when it comes to the prevention, education, and awareness related to bullying, cyberbullying, online safety, and exploitation and sextortion. The foundation shares resources and education encouraging positivity, mental health and wellness, and digital safety.
In past years, the foundation has been dedicated to creating awards at Douglas College and Capilano University for students wanting to pursue studies in fields that support working with children and youth, health sciences, and music therapy.
The legacy foundation also collects empty refundables to raise money, collecting about $10,000 worth of empties over the past four years.
The inaugural annual Amanda Todd Legacy Golf Tournament is coming up on Thursday, May 22, at Meadow Gardens Golf Club, 19675 Meadow Gardens Way, Pitt Meadows.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available.
