UPDATE: Pedestrian dead after being struck by train in Chilliwack

Fatal incident happened on railroad tracks at Young Road and Trethewey Avenue

UPDATE:

Chilliwack RCMP have confirmed that a person has died after they were hit by a train in Chilliwack.

"Young Road is currently closed between Chilliwack Central Road and Alexander Avenue. Please use alternate route," RCMP stated in a press release at 9:31 a.m.

It is expected that the road will be closed for several hours.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Emergency crews were called out to a train collision involving a person in Chilliwack.

The incident happened around 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7 at Young Road and Trethewey Avenue.

There were reports that the person was under the train. When crews arrived on scene, they stated one person was in "traumatic arrest."

An air ambulance was called to the scene.

This was at least the third time a person was struck by a train in 2025 in Chilliwack.
