IHIT Sgt. Frank Jang said on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at around 5:30 p.m., RCMP were called to the 19600-block of Wakefield Drive where they discovered a house engulfed in flames.

Police found a man鈥檚 body at the back of the residence with injuries indicative of homicide.

He has since been identified as a resident of the home.

Emergency responders located two additional bodies inside the house and their identities are not yet confirmed, Jang said.

IHIT is working with the B.C. Coroners Service to determine their cause of death, with 91原创 RCMP to 鈥渃omplete investigative steps,鈥 and the Integrated Forensic Identification Services and fire investigators to find the cause of the fire and collect physical evidence, Jang said.

鈥淎lthough the flames have been extinguished, the property where the fire took place remains an active homicide crime scene,鈥 Jang added.

鈥淣eighbours in the area should expect frequent activity at the home by our investigators for the next while.鈥

The fire also damaged neighbouring houses as firefighters worked to control the blaze that went through the roof.

BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) reported several ambulances responded and treated one person on scene for minor injuries.

No one was transported to hospital.
