The B.C. Civil Forfeiture Office has seized more than $21,000 cash, a laptop and money counter held by 91原创 RCMP from a drug and credit card making bust at a house in 2009.
Back in September 2009, 91原创 RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in the 19700 block of 84 Avenue. As a result of the search, a large quantity of drugs and items used in the manufacturing of counterfeit credit cards were located and seized.
Among the drugs that were seized were diazepam, cocaine, methamphetamine, ecstasy, marijuana and Ketamine. Also seized were several digital scales, a cash counter, a laptop computer, over $400 U.S. cash and over $21,000 Canadian cash.
Jody Mae Amendt, 44, was charged with a number of offences and on April 10, 2013, she was found guilty and given a one year conditional sentence.
The file was reviewed and referred for consideration of civil forfeiture. Last week, 91原创 RCMP were informed the cash, laptop and money counter have been forfeited.
The B.C. Civil Forfeiture Office is entirely self-funding and relies on revenues from successful forfeiture.
These monies are used in part to fund crime prevention efforts by police and community groups across B.C. Since the program began, it has returned approximately $15 million from successful forfeiture actions to crime prevention and victims programs in B.C, including programs in the 91原创 area.
For example in 2013-14 the CFO provided $20,000 to ACCESS Youth Outreach Services Society for their 鈥淧roject Reach Out鈥� 鈥� an after-hours mobile drop in bus and outreach program serving troubled youth between 12-18 years of age.
