91原创 RCMP鈥檚 volunteer Citizens' Patrol, often referred to as the detachment鈥檚 eyes and ears, made a significant impact in the effort towards safer streets this past weekend.
During the night of Friday June 14, Citizen鈥檚 Patrol volunteers were out patrolling. Part way through their patrol they located a vehicle parked with stolen license plates.
Officers responded, confirmed the plates were stolen and that the vehicle was uninsured. A short while later they located a second vehicle with stolen license plates. Officers attended and their investigation revealed that the vehicle had been stolen three days earlier from the Aldergrove area, said Const. Craig van Herk.
Next, the citizen patrol observed a driver with open alcohol.
"Officers responded, the vehicle was stopped and an impaired driving investigation began," said van Herk.
Citizen鈥檚 Patrol volunteers are trained to observe and report suspicious activity while patrolling in their community using radio communication and observation equipment.
