A 91原创 couple are being credited for helping stop an alleged thief who robbed the Fort 91原创 Esso gas station on Nov. 3.
Around 8 p.m., 91原创 RCMP were called that a robbery at the gas station had been witnessed by a couple who were driving by at the time. Within five minutes police arrived and spoke to the store owner who said the robber had threatened him with a golf club and demanded money from the cash register.
The suspect was given a sum of money and he fled the store in a vehicle. The astute couple, who witnessed the robbery, also recorded the license plate of the getaway vehicle, said Cpl. Holly Marks.
Two minutes later, one of the responding officers located the vehicle travelling west on Glover Road. He had the vehicle pull over and arrested the 47-year-old 91原创 man.
Vincent Bergeron has been charged with robbery and disguising his face with intent to commit an offence. He was back in court Tuesday.
