Cyclist struck on 200 Street in 91原创, airlifted to hospital

Traffic along 91原创's main north-south corridor was re-routed for a time on Thursday afternoon, after a young cyclist was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of 200 Street and 42 Avenue.

The accident happened at around 3:20 p.m.

The victim, a 12 year old boy, was taken to hospital by air ambulance, with what were reported by police as non-life threatening injuries.

The cyclist was wearing a helmet. The driver of the vehicle, who was shaken up but not injured, remained at the scene and provided immediate care to the cyclist, said police.

The medical helicopter was able to land in the school yard of Alice Brown Elementary at the corner of 200 Street and 44 Avenue.

Anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to police is asked to call 91原创 RCMP at 604-532-3200.
