Ron Abgrall is running for 91原创 City council in the Nov. 15 election. He ran for mayor in the past two elections, in 2008 and 2011.
"I have lived in this community for many years now. I have read and heard about many topics and issues. Why do we then still have the same kind of problems and issues we have faced for many years, but they now look more complicated and have grown much worse?" he said.
"It's because we are for the most part unwilling to accept the fact and face the responsibility for our actions."
Abgrall takes aim at candidates who run expensive campaigns and put up lots of "eyesore" signs "to buy your votes."
"You think you now know who this person is because he or she can spend thousands of dollars trying to convince you to vote for him or her. The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over, but expecting it to be different.
"Well, it won't be different, unless we really believe in ourselves. I know that if we put away unrealistic expectations that we can start to act responsible, if we start acting then that would be our first step in taking back our community."
He said the City needs to make the streets safe for children and seniors, so families can come live and grow in a healthy city. He is calling for a "proactive response."
With growing financial problems governments face and an inability to fix problems by throwing more money at them, he calls for looking at the root causes of the problems.
"We must be the responsible ones. We must heal the land, feed the people, clean the water and clean the air. If not us, then who?"
