1. What is the most important issue facing the City, and how would you propose to deal with it?
The most important issue I see facing 91Ô´´ City is managing expectations: balancing the need to retain competitive taxation levels with enhanced public safety, enhancing the quality of life in our community and infrastructure renewal. My focus is keeping 91Ô´´ City a thriving safe community by not only working with the RCMP and other outside agencies, but also with the business community. I will work closely with council and staff to continue with the implementation of the City of 91Ô´´â€™s Strategic Plan and I will work to strike up a Community Task Force regarding issues facing the City.
2. What is the best way to deal with the crime issues in the City?
91Ô´´ City is dealing with crime with the addition of two RCMP Reserve Officers who work random hours at the discretion of the Officer In Charge, Bylaw Enforcement/Security Patrol working Saturdays and weekday evenings, and installed security cameras on most City properties. The City is also having discussions with TransLink Police on security cameras and a greater TransLink Police presence at the Bus Exchange. Since putting these measures in place, crime has dropped 10 per cent in the past year.
3. Should the City apply most if not all of its annual take from the casino to upgrading its aging infrastructure, such as water and sewer lines?
Yes, Council made a fiscally responsible and proactive decision to ensure casino funds went to infrastructure renewal and capital projects, while still keeping 91Ô´´ City debt-free.
4. Do you support term limits for members council?
I do not support council term limits. The voters will ultimately determine term limits for elected officials.
