Firefighter鈥檚 legacy lives on through Christmas Stocking

The first-ever Ron Dunkley Christmas Stocking has been launched in memory of the 91原创 City firefighter who died in January in Seattle, two months after being struck by a train.

The first-ever Ron Dunkley Christmas Stocking has been launched and sets out to share a bit of warmth and cheer with the less fortunate in our community this year.

Food and other essentials donated to the Christmas Stocking fund will be distributed to the homeless in 91原创 and Aldergrove on Christmas Eve, said Carey Poitras, one of the organizers.

鈥淲e are doing something different this year,鈥 Poitras said, 鈥渕aking it our mission this Christmas season to bring some cheer and hope to those that have little of both.鈥

Dunkley, a 91原创 City firefighter, died on Jan. 4 from injuries he suffered when he was dragged by a train in Seattle in November, 2010.

He was a valued member of our 91原创 community and his daily life was devoted to help the people in the community, Poitras said.

鈥淎s this project was created to assist those in need on Christmas Eve we have chosen this name. It鈥檚 a privilege to honour the life of Ron who is so greatly missed by family, friends and the community of 91原创,鈥 she said.

Anyone who would like to give to the Ron Dunkley Christmas Stocking can drop off donations at Pastime Sports and Games, 20364 Fraser Hwy.
