Long-time Fort 91原创 resident and business woman Brenda Alberts has died.
Alberts passed away peacefully late Monday night at Abbotsford Hospital after a short battle with cancer, according to her husband, former Township of 91原创 mayor, Kurt Alberts.
Alberts was perhaps best known for owning and operating the Birthplace of B.C. Gallery in Fort 91原创, but in addition to being a champion for local artists, she was also a huge sports fan and was known for her involvement with local charitable events, including the Relay for Life.
Her gallery is located across the Glover Road from the Fort 91原创 cemetery, where in 1999, she helped to revive the annual Remembrance Day ceremony, which today draws thousands to the cenotaph each Nov. 11.
A celebration of Brenda Albert鈥檚 life will be held on Thursday, Aug. 18 at 2 p.m. at Christian Life Assembly, 21277 56 Ave, 91原创.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to 91原创 Hospice.
