The remuneration for mayor and council in 2012 was also released as part of the 91原创 Township expense report, relased under the Financial Information Act.

All councillors made between $43,024 and $45,220 in salary, not counting expense claims.

Councillor Grant Ward filed the most expense claims of any councillor during the last fiscal year 鈥 $13,097 in total.

Kim Richter was second at $9,417 and Steve Ferguson was third with $8,718.

Councillor David Davis made the smallest claim at $1,499.

Mayor Jack Froese filed $15,542 in expense claims during the same period.

His salary was $105,655.

Township council salaries took a substantial jump in the 2012 fiscal year when the mayor鈥檚 annual salary went up by 12.6 per cent and councillor pay rates rose by 19 percent after a independent remuneration called for a 鈥渃atch-up鈥 hike, following several years of no raises.

The hikes took effect when the new council took office in December of 2011.

A majority of council turned down a controversial travel allowance also proposed by the task force, including Mayor Froese and five councillors; Michelle Sparrow, Davis, Charlie Fox, Bob Long and Richter.

Three 鈥 Ferguson, Ward and Bev Dornan 鈥 accepted it.

Ferguson and Dornan said they would be making donations to charity.

The travel allowance would have added $850 a month to the mayor鈥檚 compensation, and did add $340 a month to the three councillors who accepted.
