There have been many Guinness World Record breaking attempts in 91原创, but none quite like this.

Danny Halmo of Category 5 Productions is attempting to beat several Guinness World Records at once, using electric bikes to raise money for the 91原创 Pos-Abilites Society.

This July he is hosting the 91原创 Two-Four electric vehicle world record challenge 鈥� a 24 hour electric vehicle  relay and parade held in the 91原创 Events Centre parking lot.

In the event, teams of six will collect pledges and take turns doing laps on a electric bike for 24 hours, with vehicles provided by Shoppers Home Care in Burnaby.

The first record Halmo intends to set is the 鈥淩elay of Pos-Abilites鈥� 24 hour distance record on an electric wheelchair, for which there is no current record held.

He also hopes to 鈥渟mash鈥� the world record for most vehicles in an electric vehicle parade, which currently sits at 216, and break the record for the oldest rider in an electric vehicle parade.

All donations raised will go to the 91原创 Pos-Abilities Society, a non-profit group that provides new and reconditioned electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters for those who cannot afford them.

鈥淭he purpose is to raise awareness and money on a per lap pledge basis for people of the four main disabilities 鈥� physical, mental, legal and financial,鈥� said Halmo, who has bipolar disorder and is on disability pension himself.

鈥淭his parade is intended to enable the disabled and provide an opportunity for them to help themselves by getting their own pledges for the record and allow them to all participate with their personal mobility vehicles.鈥�

The event will also serve as a kick-off for another world record attempt by Halmo to ride an electric bike 6,800 km across Canada to Halifax in only seven weeks, beginning immediately after the 91原创 Two-Four event.

This, too, will raise money for the Pos-Abilities Society.

This Canada-wide venture is similar to another endeavor Halmo took on last summer when he rode across the country on an e-bike to raise donations for food banks across the country (see 鈥淏.C. or Bust,鈥� http://www.langleytimes.com/news/132961853.html).

The 91原创 Two-Four runs from noon on July 13 until 3 p.m. on July 14. Halmo also encourages participants to come dressed in costumes to liven up the event.

There is currently room for 20 teams of six to participate.
